Nucleocytoplasmic transport ‘19

Sunday 25th to Friday 30th August 2019, Peebles Hydro, Scotland

Peebles is within easy reach from both Edinburgh (EDI) and Glasgow (GLA) airports. Direct flights to EDI/GLA exist from many major airports in north America, Europe, India, China, Thailand, Brazil and Africa by various international carriers. It may be more economical to arrive in the UK via Heathrow (LHR), and there are frequent domestic flights to EDI, which take about an hour. We suggest that that you make your flight reservations in good time. There are rail and bus connections between GLA and EDI and transfers will be arranged via EDI.

Waverley station in Edinburgh is well connected to the rest of the UK, with trains roughly every two hours from London and other major cities such as Birmingham, Liverpool and Manchester and trains every 15 minutes from Glasgow, and has a bus and tram service connecting to the airport.

From EDI airport: Taxis to Peebles Hydro are available outside of the arrivals hall at a cost of approx. £60 and the average trip is about 30 – 40 minutes. You can also prebook using CityCabs (0131 - 228 - 1211) or there is an app for both iOS and Android. At the time of writing, Uber are still allowed to operate in the Edinburgh region.

From GLA airport: Taxis to Peebles Hydro should run ~£85.

From Edinburgh City Centre: The cost of a cab from Edinburgh City Centre should be ~£35 and from North Bridge St in the City Centre one can catch the X70 bus to Peebles that lets out at the base of the Peebles Hydro for £1.70.

We will arrange several pickups from EDI airport by minibus and also for return trips. There will be a separate payment direct to the taxi company, and will be about £15.  If more than five attendees are arriving at GLA on the day of the conference we will also arrange a minibus direct to Peebles.
